Gemini 3 (& Nano Banana)
This week we’re announcing the general availability of Gemini 3 as the foundation model behind the Poly agent, enabling fast and powerful multimodal actions. Gemini 3 has state-of-the-art prompt adherence, support for coherence over long context (great for summarizing hundred-page PDFs!) and enables a range of multi-step actions on your files, from the convenience of the Poly embedded file browser. Here’s an example!
Moreover, our support for Gemini 3 includes full support for Nano Banana Pro, I.e. “Gemini 3 Nano Banana”. This gives you access to mind blowingly complex image generation capabilities, like creating infographics or diagrams, slides for a presentation, or full comic strips with readable text. Our integration for Nano Banana lets you not only create images from your files as context, but also edit images as well.
Improvements
- Behind the scenes, Poly has undergone a major refactoring that greatly improves the speed and reliability of our offline caching system. Your cache is now more powerful and useful than ever — that means fewer server requests to pull data, faster loading times for your content, and more robust logic that reduces the incidence of error messages. Because of our shared codebase, these core changes are automatically available across all platforms — web, macOS, and our in-development Windows app. We’re working relentlessly to make the foundation for file browsing better for everyone, in every conceivable way. We’d love for you to give it a try and let us know what’s still missing!
- Clients automatically fast-forward their cache state to match the server. In most cases, this actually requires zero information transfer thanks to our clever data model!
Bug Fixes
- Countless bugs were fixed. Most of them dealt with strange or tricky edge cases with offline synchronization, such as mistakenly not fetching up-to-date information (forcing the user to hard refresh the page or to clear their site settings).
- Going offline now fails less often thanks to a set of new sync primitives. That’s mostly just tech-speak for things working better.
