Desktop Alpha
Our MacOS desktop app reaches a new milestone today — we’re now shipping our first alpha release of Poly, complete with native desktop syncing, drag in and out support, and better integration with the OS including things like folder tags and colors, shared drives, more file types such as links, and even Liquid Glass support! Check it out:
We’re sharing this release with a select group of users and testers. If you’d like to be one of them, reach out to us (or reply/retweet). You can always get in touch through our public e-mail ([email protected]) or by hopping in our Discord and asking what’s up!

Improvements
- You can now drag files in and out of Poly, or even between Poly windows on desktop. You always had the ability to drag in files, but now you can just as easily drag out. Want to drop a Poly file into an e-mail? Want to share a file in messages? It’s as simple as dragging it in there.
- The app now stays running in the background.
- Pressing quit now “quits to menu bar”
- You can now press Cmd+N to open a window even when you have no windows open
- Added a “move to…” menu in the context menu, making it easier to move things.
- Added an “insert” menu to the conversation, letting you easily insert files into the chat that way, even in full page view.
- Navigating to a file that you don’t have access to now shows a neat “not found page”
- Clicking the login button will now save your position so that after login you go back to where you were.
- You can now “watch” a public shared folder, allowing you to have access to it on your sidebar. This lets you search that shared folder as well and the agent will now have access to those files by default as well.
- Our video player now supports .mov files.
Bug Fixes
- Clicking “New chat” while multiple windows are open opens a new chat, not the latest chat.
- Improved agent reliability with certain kinds of formatting quirks
- Opening your app should now stop showing a blank sidebar in instances that you had a conversation open
- Opening the app doesn’t show the system tray in the center of the screen now
- Opening a conversation in column view mode now opens the chat to the actual current folder (the deepest folder)
- Fixed an issue where accessing a file in anonymous view would not load the correct shared drive later on.
- Fixed an issue with erroneously caching app files that shouldn’t be cached, causing issues with loading the application.
- Fixed an issue with SVG files getting interpreted as text files
- UI options that a user is not authorized to do are now disabled so that you don’t have to get confused and see an error message to understand that you don’t have permission.
- Fixed an issue where the agent will repeat showing the user the result of an image generation.
- Many files that had previously errored in displaying will now fix themselves automatically.
- More types of video thumbnails now work.
