Keyboard Shortcuts
Every keyboard shortcut in Poly for navigation, panels, selection, search, and desktop actions.
Poly is built to be driven from the keyboard. ⌘ means the Command key on macOS and Ctrl on Windows and Linux, everywhere below.
Search, agent & panels
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
⌘ K | Open search |
⌘ / | Toggle the Agent panel |
⌘ ⇧ K | Open the Agent panel and focus its input |
⌘ ⌥ / | Start a new chat (or reopen your latest) |
⌘ ? | Toggle the Chats panel |
⌘ I | Toggle the Details panel |
⌘ U | Toggle the Activity panel |
⌘ \ | Show or hide the sidebar |
Esc | Dismiss — closes search, previews, menus, and clears focus |
View modes
⌘ 1 through ⌘ 8 switch the current folder's view mode, in menu order:
| Shortcut | View | Shortcut | View |
|---|---|---|---|
⌘ 1 | Icon | ⌘ 5 | Tree |
⌘ 2 | Grid | ⌘ 6 | Column |
⌘ 3 | Feed | ⌘ 7 | Table |
⌘ 4 | Detail | ⌘ 8 | Gallery |
Also: ⌘ = / ⌘ − grow or shrink preview thumbnails, and ⌘ ⌥ R resets the folder's view settings to your default.
Selecting & acting on files
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
↑ ↓ ← → | Move the selection between files (starts at the top-left when nothing is selected) |
| type a name | Jump to the first file starting with what you type |
⌘ A | Select all files in the current view |
Space | Peek — quick-look the selected file; press again to close |
Enter | Open the selected file |
⌘ Enter | Open in a new tab (web) or in the native app (desktop) |
⇧ Enter | Open without closing the current view (desktop) |
F2 | Rename the selected file inline |
Tab | Expand or collapse the selected folder (Tree view) |
Delete / Backspace | Archive the selected files |
⌘ C / ⌘ X / ⌘ V | Copy, cut, and paste files |
⌘ Z | Undo the last file action |
⌘ ⇧ Z / ⌘ Y | Redo |
⌘ D | New folder in the current view |
Undo and redo apply to file-system actions — renames, moves, archives — with full version history behind them for anything further back.
Preview & Flashback
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Esc | Leave the file preview (back to the folder) |
↑ / ↓ | In Flashback, with the timeline focused: step through time by one tick |
Desktop app
The desktop app adds native menu shortcuts on top of everything above:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
⌘ , | Settings |
⌘ N | New window |
⌘ O | Upload files |
⌘ [ / ⌘ ] | Back / forward |
⌘ R | Reload the window |
⌘ Q | Close Poly's windows (the app keeps syncing in the background) |
On the desktop, the View → Tools menu also lists
⌘ H for Activity — both it and ⌘ U work there.
