Flashback

The time-travel panel — scrub through your folder or file's history on a live timeline.

Flashback turns your current view into a time machine: a timeline panel opens beside your files, and scrolling it rewinds the folder or file you're looking at to any moment in its past — live and navigable, with every change plotted as an event you can act on.

Enable it from View → Flashback in the main menu. The timeline scopes to whatever you're viewing: a folder shows files being added, moved, edited, and removed; a file shows its own history of edits, renames, and conflicts.

Flashback is one of Poly's deepest features and has a full page of its own — see Flashback in Recovering Files for the complete guide: timeline navigation and zoom, peeking versus committing to an instant, recovering from the timeline, and why scrubbing is instant even offline.

At a glance

  • Scroll to move through time (down = into the past); drag to scrub with momentum; pinch or +scroll to zoom from seconds to months
  • Click an event to jump to that change; right-click it to open, download, copy, revert, or roll back
  • Right-click the timeline to roll the whole folder or file back to that instant
  • The × on the navigation pill returns you to the present
