Onboarding & Customization
Today we make a more delicate update, combined with a very thorough round of bug and feature fixing: we’ve now made onboarding into a lively, agent-led process that immediately opens a conversation with the agent, who encourages you to use features, reads files you’ve upload to suggest ways to use Poly, and can help you troubleshoot issues if things aren’t working. It’s just one specific way that we’re trying to listen to our users, respond to a common piece of feedback (that it’s confusing to get started), and improve the product for new users. On top of that, we’ve made significant improvements across the product from chat, search, view modes, and desktop!
Improvements
- Searches are now “infinite”! When you do a search, results will automatically load as you scroll. This works for both smart searches and text searches. This is just a step on our journey to make our searches the best possible experience out there.
- You can now use similarity search across all file types
- The file picker element now lets you type to search for the file you need
- Grouping files is now available for Tree view and Table view
- Improved menu bar actions on the desktop app
- Each view mode has its own default settings now, meaning switching view modes is less jarring
- Similarly, each side panel has its own default settings now, meaning switching panels is less jarring as well
- Searching should now work correctly in anonymous mode, letting users visiting a public shared folder now get a working search experience
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a string parsing issue in the desktop updater
- Fixed an issue where the Finder folder didn’t show a custom icon
- Fixed an issue with the agent not receiving the file size in certain circumstances, causing those interactions to fail inexplicably
- Fixed the error message for PDFs that are too large (over 50MB)
- Fixed the display of traffic lights on the desktop app
- Fixed an issue with the “open on web” button on desktop
- Fixed the format of the URL from the “copy” button on desktop for shared folders
- Fixed an issue with the search indexing status checkmarks disappearing
- Fixed an issue where large PDFs would not display their thumbnails for up to 10 minutes
- Fixed an issue where our infrastructure would not autoscale to certain request types
- The app now warns you about running the desktop application outside of the Applications folder
- Fixed an issue with sorting conversations
- Fixed an issue with untitled chats all having the same creation timestamp
- Fixed an issue with waterfall view selections not working
- Fixed an issue where you could not exit autocomplete mode
- Fixed an issue where changing the name of a conversation would not update in other windows
- Fixed an issue with clicking outline links in the conversation view.
- Fixed shadowing on audio files in the chat
- Turning off folder notes now syncs correctly so you don’t need to turn it off every time
- Fixed an issue where the cache would not work with certain requests, meaning the client would need to fetch data unnecessarily
