Poly Mind

Turn your file system into a knowledge base for you and your AI agents

Poly Mind gives your AI infinite memory. As you use your file system, Poly Mind builds a personal knowledge base built from your own files. That way when you chat with your AI, it will already have context about your life, and know which documents to reference for answers.

Think of it as a second brain built from your own file system. Use it with Poly's agent, or bring it into an agent you already use. Poly Mind's memories of you are fully editable and transparent. Open Mind to inspect your memories or make changes.

Poly Mind currently only uses files in your Home drive to generate memories. Shared drives are not currently supported or included.

How it works

We built Poly Mind to help you obtain more value from your files than any ordinary cloud storage tool. Most people have important information hidden in their file systems, yet finding it is a pain. Worse, AI agents lack all this personal context but can't easily find it for you, either. Poly Mind fixes this in a few important ways:

  • Extracts key details automatically and indexes them with our smart personal search engine, polyembed, which only you can see and access.
  • Annotates the actual files where information came from so agents can refer back to the source material instantly.
  • Provides you with a space to take notes, enriching your personal knowledge base.
  • Gives agents like ChatGPT and Claude a smart search engine to query your second brain for details so you can stop repeating yourself.

Features

From files to useful answers

Your files hold details that are easy to forget: the terms of your lease, a decision from a project, or the name of a place you visited. Mind helps make those details useful again. Once you get it set up you can just ask the agent anything you want.

Try asking:

  • “What were the lease terms for my current apartment?”
  • “What did we decide about the kitchen renovation?”
  • “Find photos and videos from our trip to the coast.”
  • “What was the name of the restaurant I wrote about last summer?”

For an answer you need to act on, ask your agent to show the original file too. Memories are a useful starting point, and the source gives you the full context.

A place for your own thoughts

Mind also gives you a journal. Jot down a thought, record an idea, or add context that a file alone would not capture. You can choose a date for an entry, including a memory from the past.

Use it to keep a personal second brain, remember small details, collect ideas for a project, or revisit the photos and media connected to a topic. A short note about why something mattered can make it much easier to find and understand later.

Memories you can see and manage

Your memories live in Markdown files synced to your Mind folder and in annotations attached to your existing files. They are visible in the Mind page, where you can review, edit, or delete them.

You can also bring your own notes into Mind. Your memories remain part of your file system, alongside the files that give them meaning.

Get started

  1. Add the files you want to draw on to Poly.
  2. Open Mind to explore your memories or write a journal entry.
  3. Ask Poly's agent a question about your files, or connect your own agent.

Explore Journaling to document your day or Reminiscing for a guided conversation that helps Mind understand you better. See Managing your memories to review and organize your memories. Read Privacy & Security to learn about how Poly handles your data.
