Claude CoWork (Desktop)

Install the Poly extension in Claude's desktop app straight from the Poly app.

Claude's desktop app connects to Poly through a native extension that ships inside the Poly desktop app — one click to install, no config files.

Install the extension

Install the Poly desktop app and run Install CLI Tools from the app menu — the extension works by driving the poly CLI, so this step is required.
In the Poly app, open Downloads and choose Install Claude Desktop extension.
Poly builds the extension bundle and hands it to Claude, which prompts you to confirm the installation.

Once installed, Claude gains a tool that runs poly commands on your behalf — searching, reading, tagging, organizing, and creating files, all against your local cache, so it stays fast and works offline.

Without the desktop app

If you use Claude somewhere the extension can't reach, add Poly's hosted MCP server as a connector instead:

Claude opens a browser window to sign you into Poly with OAuth on first connection — no keys or tokens to paste.

Safety

The extension refuses forced, irreversible actions (--disallow-force is baked in): Claude can archive files but never permanently delete them. Anything it removes is recoverable from your Archive — see Recovering Files.
