Organizing Files

The Poly agent can take structural actions on your storage — renaming files, moving them between folders, creating new folder hierarchies, and cleaning up clutter. Describe what you want, and the agent does the work.

Renaming files

Rename all the screenshots in my Downloads folder to include today's date
Rename this file to match our naming convention: [Project]-[Date]-[Description]
Make all the filenames in this folder lowercase

The agent interprets the pattern you describe and applies consistent renames. It shows you a preview of all proposed changes before executing, so you can review before anything happens.

Moving files

Move everything in my Desktop folder into the appropriate project folders
Move all [PDFs](/mime-types/application/pdf) from the Downloads folder to the Documents/Invoices folder
Organize the photos in this folder into subfolders by year

For ambiguous moves (e.g., a file could belong to multiple project folders), the agent asks for clarification before proceeding.

Creating folder structures

Create a folder structure for a new client project: client name, with subfolders for Contracts, Assets, and Deliverables
Set up a standard folder structure under the Marketing drive

The agent creates the folders immediately and, if you ask, moves relevant existing files into the right places.

Cleaning up clutter

Find duplicate files in my storage and help me decide which ones to keep
Flag any files that haven't been accessed in over a year
Find all the empty folders in my Home and delete them

For destructive operations (delete, overwrite), the agent always asks for confirmation before proceeding. You can tell it to skip confirmations for a specific session if you trust its judgment:

Go ahead and delete without asking me each time — I trust your judgment here

Bulk operations

The agent handles bulk operations gracefully. If a request would affect a large number of files, it tells you the scope before acting:

Agent: This will rename 47 files in the Documents folder. Here's a preview of the changes. Proceed?

Approve or modify the plan before the agent executes.
