Poly includes a built-in AI agent that understands your files and can act on them. You can ask it questions, delegate tasks, and automate workflows — all from the same interface you use to browse and search.
What is the Poly AI agent?
The agent is a conversational assistant that has direct access to everything in your Poly storage. Unlike a general-purpose chatbot, it can actually read your files, navigate your folders, and take actions — not just describe how you might do those things yourself.
Open the agent by pressing ⌘ / (Ctrl+/ on Windows and Linux) — think of it as ⌘ ?, asking a question. ⌘ ⌥ / starts a fresh chat directly.
What the agent can do
- Read and summarize any file: PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, images, audio and video (through transcripts), links, and YouTube videos
- Search your storage using natural language
- Create and edit text files and documents
- Organize files — rename, move, tag, and restructure your storage
- Chain multiple actions — complete complex, multi-step workflows in a single request
