| Poly support | Partial. Poly recognizes model/x-smd and processes valid SMD or VTA data when supported. |
| Indexed by Poly | Yes. Poly indexes filenames and available scene metadata. |
| Preview in Poly | Partial. SMD geometry may receive a preview; animation-only data needs compatible geometry. |
| Poly agent | Partial. An optimized rendition is available when the data contributes to a compatible scene; animation-only files are not standalone objects. |
What does model/x-smd represent?
model/x-smd covers Source SMD text files and the related VTA vertex-animation files. SMD sections describe nodes, skeletons, triangles, or animation frames; VTA supplies per-vertex animation samples for a compatible mesh.12
How to open it
Use Blender with a Source importer or Crowbar. Load animation and vertex data with the matching mesh and verify material paths and bone or vertex bindings.
Poly support
Poly recognizes model/x-smd, .smd, and .vta, indexes available metadata, and retains the originals for download. Geometry can be previewed when supported; animation-only data requires a compatible scene for rendered agent context.
