What does model/x-hmp represent?

model/x-hmp is an unregistered identity for 3D GameStudio terrain files. The binary header identifies HMP4, HMP5, or HMP7. Header fields describe the terrain grid, scale, vertex count, skins, and frames; the terrain vertices carry height and normal data.1

Opening and conversion

Use 3D GameStudio's MED editor or a viewer that specifically supports HMP terrain. Keep skin files and project references available. Export a copy to glTF or OBJ when you need a portable mesh, then check scale, normals, and texture coordinates.

Support in Poly

Poly previews supported HMP terrain, indexes its filename and available metadata, and provides an optimized rendition to the agent. Terrain dimensions and other displayed counts summarize the file; individual height samples are not separate search results.
